Jessica Lundy:

If you desire to travel the world, don't limit the type of experiences you want to have. Give yourself the permission to dream big relentlessly, so that you can look back at the end of the year and feel a sense of pride, a sense of accomplishment, like I feel, like I did it. One of the biggest lessons that I learned on this world tour is how similar we are. Sometimes we can look at people from across the different countries and different nations and it can feel like our lives are so different, but I realized that most people just want to be loved. Most people just want to be valued.

Jessica Lundy:

Welcome to the Finally Healed podcast, where we prioritize mental health, self-care and embracing our healing journey together. I'm your host, jessica Lundy, and today we are talking about healing on the move. I am so excited because I just came back from my world tour and before we get into that, I have to talk about my t-shirt that says travel like your mental health depends on it. If you guys follow Pinky Cole from the very popular brand Slutty Vegan, she did this social experiment where she encouraged all of her followers to support a Black woman-owned business and I had to take advantage of that opportunity. I truly believe that it takes the supportive community to encourage people to keep going and keep growing. And y'all, when I saw this shirt, it spoke to my heart. So make sure you check out Met Cinnabalo. They do some really, really cool t-shirts and I think it's amazing when we can come together and support phenomenal brands.

Jessica Lundy:

But when I think about how important travel is in my life, it is a part of my mental health and my well-being and every time I have the opportunity to be on an airplane, it is just my happy place. You know you're in the air, you know you open up your window, you see the clouds. It is just such a magical experience that I always look forward to, and this tour has been a dream come true. You know, when I think about little Jessica being 10 years old and setting these really big, ambitious goals having a world tour, being able to travel the world and encourage and inspire and motivate people I remember when that was a dream and now I have been able to turn my dreams into reality and I am excited to take you guys with me on this journey and be a part of the experience. But all of this started because I was brave enough, at the top of 2024 to declare and decree that this would be my year of international travel.

Jessica Lundy:

Now, when you're thinking about setting your goals and setting your intentionalities for 2025, I want you to do it from a place of boldness. I want you to do it from a place of tenacity. I want you to do it like anything is possible. And listen, if you need to borrow some belief from me to make sure that you are living your purpose in 2025, make sure you come to my new me, new event. We're doing a planning event December 14th. If you haven't gotten your tickets yet, make sure you go. This is going to be a life-changing event so that whatever dreams you have for the new year, you can turn it into a reality as well, and so I have been in great expectation all year to be able to travel, and it was such a beautiful experience. If you desire to travel the world, you know I encourage you to start creating a list of the countries that you desire to travel to, the experiences you want to create, and when you're doing this, like, put money like off the table, like, don't limit the type of experiences you wanna have. If you wanna fly first class, if you wanna stay in the nicest hotels, if you want to have a concierge experience, if you wanna do this with your friends or your family, like, give yourself the permission to dream, to dream big, to dream relentlessly, so that you can look back at the end of the year and feel a sense of pride, a sense of accomplishment. And as I reflect on 2024, that's how I feel. I feel like I did it and that is a beautiful feeling. And so I got the opportunity to travel in a very short period of time, essentially like in the last, like 30 days.

Jessica Lundy:

I've been to Toronto with Canada. I had the opportunity to speak in London. I had the opportunity to speak in the Bahamas and in Mexico, and I'm so grateful I got to do this with people that I love. For some parts of the tour, I was able to be with my Next Level family. It was such a beautiful experience. Being able to travel with the number one motivational speaker in the world, dr Eric Thomas, getting to travel with Jeremy Anderson, cj, and the entire team, and being the only woman on the tour was an extremely empowering experience. I never take it for granted, especially when I touched down in Canada, at London, and I was really able to empower the women to be able to dream outside of their circumstances. There were so many women that hugged me and really thanked me for showing up so boldly every time that I hit this stage, and I just think representation is so important and I will continue to be that voice for women so that they can see themselves and know that anything is possible to them that believe.

Jessica Lundy:

Now, tour life is can be a little bit exhausting. This is one of those things where people don't really like to talk about, because you want to be grateful, right, you want to stay positive, but, if I can be transparent, it can be challenging, especially as a new mom to a now two-year-old baby. Abigail turned two. But it can be challenging leaving your daughter, leaving your husband, to travel. But that is why it is so important to have a strong vision, to have a strong purpose, to have a strong why. Because I know why I got into this industry to bring hope to the next generation, to encourage people to talk about mental health and burnout prevention and topics that are dire. This is what pushes me to travel alone at times. This is what pushes me to be on the road for maybe weeks at a time and might not be able to see you, know my family or make the sacrifices that I make, because I believe that God put me on the earth to do something so special and so potent and so unique, and so that is what drives me on some of those days that are really challenging.

Jessica Lundy:

One of my favorite parts of the tour when we were in London, I got to spend some really intimate time with CJ, who is ET's right-hand man. If you guys have watched the interview we got with the Secret to Success podcast that I was recently on, make sure you check that out. But we had such an amazing time. We got to do all the touristy things. Sometimes when I travel, you know, I don't always have the opportunity to get to do touristy things, to get to see Big Ben or get to be in the subways or get to see some really cool sites.

Jessica Lundy:

And because my mental health is one of my top priorities, I was intentional about experiencing the cultures in the different countries that I was able to go to. When I had the opportunity to speak in the Bahamas, I was intentional about immersing myself in the culture, like getting to connect with the women in the different communities, and it was amazing. There was a point. You know, I am half Jamaican. My dad was in a Trinidadian band, so I'm very connected to the culture and very much desiring to want to connect with my roots. And when I was in Bahamas, like I instantly felt bohemian, like I was initially accepted in the culture so beautifully, and it was something that I will never forget. It was a life changing experience. I had such an amazing experience. I'm going to be going back early 2025 and just really building a really good partnership within the country. I even had the opportunity to meet the prime minister's wife and that was just a beautiful experience.

Jessica Lundy:

I'd actually debuted a new keynote called I've Made it this Far, now what? And it was geared towards high achieving women that have literally achieved everything. Like they have the degrees, you know, they have the positioning, they have the rank, but they are still feeling unfulfilled. Like can you relate to that? Like you did all the stuff they told you to do and you're still wondering, like what is next? That is the woman that I was speaking to, and so I remember there was.

Jessica Lundy:

There was this intimate moment that I had with the prime minister's wife and we were just talking about, like, the reality of making it to the top and how lonely that can be at times. You know that's something that a lot of times we don't get the chance to talk about, because when you are that person I believe the woman that I'm speaking to right now you are that person in your family where you might be the first person in your family to have gone to college. You might be the first person in your family making six figures or desiring to be a millionaire, or desiring to achieve all these things, and it can feel lonely because you're telling your goals and your dreams to your family and sometimes you're looking at you like, how are you going to be able to do this? And I know I have learned personally that there are certain people that I just can't tell my goals to because they are too precious to be not respected.

Jessica Lundy:

Just getting to have these conversations and when I think about, one of the biggest lessons that I learned on this world tour is how similar we are. You know, sometimes we can look at people from across the pond or in different countries or in different nations and it could feel like our lives are so different. But I realized that most people just want to be seen. Most people want to be heard. Most people want to be loved. Most people just want to be valued and thinking about being able to hug them and people love on people just really brought me just so much joy. You know, reignited a passion for wanting to help people.

Jessica Lundy:

You know, in this season I am so passionate about helping women like really become the best version of themselves, and I've been documenting my journey. You know, one of my favorite parts of the podcast is our healing moment, where it is an action item, and I want to give you that a little bit early. I think one of the best things that you can do is start documenting your journey. You know, when I look back at some of the things that I've been able to accomplish, sometimes I gotta like pinch myself that this is real, this is my real life, and so I have been keeping a diary, like a video diary, of these intimate experiences. Now, these probably will never see the light of day. I don't plan to ever post these on social media, but I want to be able to look back and remind myself when I was getting ready to speak in London or getting ready to take the stage in Canada, or the preparation, because I never want to take for granted what God has blessed me with and on those days that are challenging. Let's be honest. There are days where you might not feel encouraged, or you might not feel motivated, or you might not feel excited, or you might have even gotten bad news. Looking back at these video diaries will remind you of these special moments that no one can take from you.

Jessica Lundy:

As I was preparing for this episode, like I was just going back and looking at that folder in my phone and it just really encouraged me, it really blessed me and it allowed me to sit in gratitude. We have so much to be grateful for. If you're watching this during Thanksgiving, I want you to take a moment and pause for gratitude for the fact that we have the ability to be able to travel. We have the ability to create, the fact that we have the ability to be able to travel like. We have the ability to create the life that we deserve, all by just making the decision to change, just making the decision to be the best version of ourselves. And I encourage you when you decide to really lock into your actual identity, like the person that you were destined to become. I promise you that there is another woman that's going to be motivated by your story, that she's going to be encouraged, that she's going to see something in you and say, if you can do it, I can do it. And so I want you to dream big as we transition into this new year. I want you to set your expectations high, because if I can do a world tour, you could do a world tour right. If I can step out of my comfort zone and continue to do things that might make me a little bit uncomfortable at times, might make me a little bit anxious, I want to encourage you that you can do the same and, most importantly, you've got this.

Jessica Lundy:

So let's talk about some of the stuff that helps me to focus on my mental health while I travel. Right, there are so many things outside of your circumstances when you're traveling, you don't know if your flight's going to be delayed, you don't know if your bags can get lost, and so I think one of the things that has helped me the most, like logistics wise, is there's an app I use called Trifit, and it allows me and my team to organize everything in there, and that has been a game changer, because one of the most stressful things about traveling is making sure everything goes smoothly, and I don't know about you, but I like to take the guesswork out of as many things as possible. I am in my systems era, I'm in my delegation era, so I am constantly trying to make sure that I'm running my life as smoothly as possible, and so this has helped me tremendously. So I think the planning, the preparation, all of the details, but also giving yourself the freedom to be able to really enjoy and explore, and one of the other things that I put into place is boundaries. I had to have some real serious conversations myself, because there are times when you're on trips whether it's business or personal, where you want to go to every dinner, like you want to go to every event, but I am really big on managing my energy, and there were times where people wanted to do extra excursions. Or, you know, there was a time where a couple people went to Paris and I wanted to go, but I knew I wasn't going to have the energy to actually perform on stage if I did all the extra stuff. It's okay to say no to amazing opportunities at times, right? Because especially when you're on a world tour, like you got to manage your energy I knew that I couldn't burn out at city two right when I got a long ways to go. So I think it's important to be real with yourself, to be honest with yourself, sets expectations and allow yourself to be your most authentic self.
